Awarded $25,000 to train Latino students on career and digital skills

Northeast Lakeview College is proud to announce that it has received $25,000 from the Grow With Google Hispanic Serving Institution Career Readiness Program. The Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program offers a semester-long in-person and online digital skills program to help students prepare for critical steps in their career journey. Whether preparing for an internship or first job, students will have an opportunity to join interactive video and in-person lessons, participate in activities that help them master key digital and real-world skills, and meet with peers or career counselors for follow-up discussions.

In partnership with Grow with Google, HACU is launching the Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program. The new initiative will provide Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) with a grant to launch an evidence-based digital skills curriculum, created by Google, to help Latino students build their careers and increase their economic potential. Through the program, Google will partner with HACU and invest $2 million to help HSIs train 200,000 Latino students on digital skills by 2025.

“Northeast Lakeview College, as part of the Alamo Colleges District, supports high impact learning practices, including the benefits of experiential learning.  Our Grow with Google partnership will provide students the opportunity to develop career competencies, while enhancing their digital skills, helping students stand out in the job market.  We are thankful for Google’s support in expanding our capacity to serve students and provide meaningful hands-on career training.”   Dr. Veronica Garcia, NLC President Interested students should reach to The NLC Career Engaged Learning Office (CELO) to sign up.
